How common are ulcers?

Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome (EGUS) is one of the most common medical conditions in horses. Equine gastric ulcers can affect any horse at any age. Up to 90 percent of racehorses and 60 percent of show horses, as well as leisure horses, non-performance horses and even foals are affected by ulcers.

60-90% of horses will develop ulcers (EGUS) at some point

Did you know: Ulcers in horses can develop within as little as five days.

Equestra Equine Omeprazole inhibits gastric acid secretion. This allows gastric acidity in the horse’s stomach to be maintained at a non-aggressive level. Following dose-dependant directions for use will allow existing ulcers to heal, or prevent the occurence or recurrence of ulcers.

Omeprazole is the only approved medication that is proven to heal and prevent equine gastric ulcers.
